It wouldn’t necessarily be the first game in the genre I’d choo-choose to play, but it’s still a decent little horror experience that’s pulled in just in time for Halloween. What follows is a fairly standard point and click adventure, a game that feels a lot like fellow horror point and click Detention, with its side-scrolling perspective and focus on spooky puzzle solving. This is where the rise in importance of soundtrack and ambience happened, and thank goodness it did as it prompted the best horror games of recent times. The gameplay is also accompanied by a very nice soundtrack, it complements the cutscenes very well and we all know sound plays a big part in allowing horror games to build tension. But I don’t really play these games for head-scratching puzzles that keep me stumped – I play these games to feel spooked.
